History fashion notes:
Between 1526 and 1605, the Mughal Emperor Akbar began a new style in searing shawls. He introduced the practice of wearing a two shawls back-to-back so that the reverse side was not visible.  

The practice of wearing shawls going back to 11th century AD. According to many popular Kashmir stories, the origin of this practice is in Kashmir regions, where shawl industry was set up one thousand years ago.
